That sounds much easier than installing a family-location app or setting up location sharing in advance.

But the phrase “track a phone by number” can create the wrong expectation. Tracelo does not gain access to a phone’s GPS merely because you know its number. The service sends an SMS containing a location-request link. The recipient must open that link and explicitly agree to share their location before a precise result can appear.

There is also a billing detail buyers should understand before entering a card. At the time this review was prepared, Tracelo advertised a $1.25 introductory trial that automatically renews to a $49 subscription, although prices and trial lengths may vary by country and promotion.

In this Tracelo review, we explain what the service can realistically do, what the recipient sees, why a lost phone may remain impossible to locate, how the subscription works, and which alternatives make more sense for number lookup or ongoing family tracking.

Quick Verdict on Tracelo

Tracelo is a real consent-based location-request service, but it is not a silent GPS tracker. It can send an SMS to almost any modern phone and may return an accurate location when the recipient opens the link and grants location access. It cannot automatically locate an unwilling recipient, a switched-off phone, or a lost phone whose finder ignores the message.

The largest concern is expectation management. The headline promise sounds more direct than the actual process, and the low introductory charge converts into a substantially more expensive recurring subscription unless cancelled.

✅ Pros

No app installation required

Works through a normal web browser

Compatible with Android and iPhone

Can return precise GPS when permission is granted

The requester’s identity can remain hidden

❌ Cons

The recipient must open an SMS link

The recipient must consent to location sharing

Not suitable for silent or continuous tracking

Low trial price renews into a higher subscription

Numerous users report billing and cancellation problems

Our rating: ★★☆☆☆

Rating is independent review of our team and doesn’t reflect consumer personal experience.

What Is Tracelo?

Tracelo is a web-based phone-location request service. It does not require software to be installed on the sender’s phone or the recipient’s phone. Instead, it uses an SMS message and a browser-based location page.

The person using Tracelo enters a phone number, chooses or customises a message, and sends a tracking request. The recipient receives the message, opens the included link and is asked to share location access. If permission is granted, the recipient’s browser sends location data back to Tracelo, where it appears on a map in the sender’s dashboard.

This is technically very different from locating a phone through the mobile network. Tracelo does not appear to provide carrier-level cell-tower triangulation, access to emergency-location systems, or direct GPS access based on the number alone.

Important distinction: Tracelo can request a location from the person using the phone. It cannot independently extract that phone’s live GPS coordinates simply from its number.

How Does Tracelo Work?

1

Enter the number

Choose the country code, enter the phone number and prepare the SMS message that will be sent.

2

Send the tracking SMS

Tracelo sends a text message containing a web link. That may prevent the recipient from immediately seeing who initiated the request. However, the phone owner still receives an SMS and must interact with a link before location is shared.

Therefore, the service may hide the requester’s name, but it does not make the tracking request invisible. The recipient knows that someone is asking for their location.

Question

Realistic answer

Can Tracelo locate a phone from the number alone?

No. Recipient interaction is required.

Does the recipient receive a message?

Yes. Tracelo sends an SMS location request.

Must the recipient open the link?

Yes. Otherwise precise location cannot be returned.

Must location permission be granted?

Yes for precise browser-based GPS.

Is the requester’s identity displayed?

Tracelo says the requester can remain confidential.

Can Tracelo Find a Lost or Stolen Phone?

It may help in a limited set of circumstances, but it should not be treated as a dependable lost-phone recovery system.

The phone must be switched on.

It must have mobile service or internet access.

Someone must see the incoming SMS.

That person must open the link.

The browser must be allowed to share location.

If the phone is lying unattended, has a dead battery, has no service or is held by someone who ignores the link, Tracelo will not solve the problem.

For your own Android or iPhone, built-in tools such as Google Find My Device and Apple Find My are generally more appropriate because they are connected to the device before it goes missing.

Tracelo Pricing: The Trial and Renewal Explained

At the time this review was prepared, Tracelo’s main English-language page advertised an introductory offer of $1.25, followed by a $49 subscription. The site also states that the subscription automatically renews after the trial period and that pricing may vary by country and promotion.

Billing stage

Displayed price

What to understand

Introductory trial

$1.25 at time checked

This is not necessarily a one-time purchase.

Subscription renewal

$49 at time checked

The trial automatically renews unless cancelled.

Future billing

Varies by plan/country

Confirm the exact frequency and amount on your checkout page.

This pricing structure does not automatically make the service illegitimate. Trials commonly renew into subscriptions. The risk is that a customer may focus on the small introductory amount and fail to appreciate the much larger renewal.

Before paying:

Take a screenshot of the checkout page.

Record the trial end date.

Confirm the renewal amount and frequency.

Use an email address you can access.

Cancel immediately after testing if you do not need continued access.

Save the cancellation confirmation.

Why Are People Reporting Tracelo Charges?

Tracelo operates as a subscription service. Its billing help page says that a card charge may appear as Tracelo.com or Help-Tracelo.com. It also explains that a user may have started a trial which later renewed into a paid subscription.

Customers expecting a one-time tracking purchase

A subscription charge following a low-cost trial

Users saying they cancelled but were charged again

Difficulty identifying the charge on a card statement

Refund requests after the location request produced no useful result

Customers who did not realise the recipient had to click a link

These reports are allegations submitted by individual customers, not legal findings. They do not prove that every charge was unauthorised or that every cancellation failed. However, the repeated pattern is enough to justify carefully documenting the trial, renewal and cancellation process before subscribing.

How to Cancel a Tracelo Subscription

Tracelo provides a dedicated cancellation page. The page asks for the email address used during signup and says that submitting it will turn off automatic renewal. It also offers cancellation options associated with Google, Apple and Facebook sign-in.

Open Tracelo’s official cancellation page.

Enter the exact email address used at checkout.

Submit the cancellation request.

Capture the confirmation screen.

Check your email for a cancellation confirmation.

Log into your account and confirm that renewal is disabled.

Monitor your next card statement.

If you cannot remember which email address was used, contact Tracelo support and provide the charge date, amount and card-statement descriptor. On either platform, the recipient must receive the SMS, open the link and allow the webpage to use location.

Browser security settings, spam filtering, restricted links and location-permission choices can all prevent the service from returning a precise location.

Tracelo Reviews: Why the Public Feedback Is Confusing

Tracelo’s Trustpilot profile has a very large number of reviews and a high overall score. Many reviewers describe the service as simple or fast. At the same time, recent reviews visible on the platform include people saying that they were asked to rate the service before receiving a location, or that the result arrived only after the recipient clicked the SMS link.

This means the headline rating should not replace a feature-by-feature evaluation. A positive comment such as “easy to use” does not establish that the service can silently track a number. Likewise, one angry complaint does not prove that the entire company is fraudulent.

Did the recipient knowingly share their location?

Was the returned location accurate?

Was the renewal clearly disclosed?

Could the subscription be cancelled without further charges?

Did support resolve billing problems?

Is Tracelo Legit or a Scam?

Calling Tracelo a scam is too simplistic based on the available evidence. It is a functioning web service with a published tracking process, subscription terms, customer support and a cancellation page. Its core method—sending a consent-based browser location request—is technically plausible.

However, the service can still disappoint users who interpret “locate any phone by number” as direct access to a phone’s GPS. The product only works when the recipient participates. The inexpensive trial and higher recurring subscription also create obvious room for billing confusion.

Our conclusion: Tracelo appears to be a legitimate location-request service marketed with language that can encourage unrealistic expectations. Do not use false emergencies or deceptive messages to obtain location information.

Use the service only for lawful purposes, such as requesting a location from someone who has agreed to share it or testing a phone you own. Laws vary by country, and this review is not legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tracelo

Is Tracelo legit?
Tracelo appears to be a functioning subscription-based location-request service. It sends an SMS link and may return a location after the recipient consents. It should not be mistaken for direct GPS access from a phone number.

Does Tracelo really work?
It can work when the recipient opens the SMS link and allows location access. It will not provide a precise location if the recipient ignores or rejects the request.

Can Tracelo track a phone without permission?
No. Tracelo states that tracking occurs only with the recipient’s explicit consent.

Does Tracelo notify the other person?
Yes. The other person receives an SMS containing the location-request link.

Can the recipient see who requested the location?
Tracelo says the requester’s identity can remain confidential, although the recipient still knows that a request has been sent.

Can Tracelo locate an iPhone or Android phone?
Potentially, provided the phone receives the SMS, the user opens the link and the browser is granted location access.

Can Tracelo find a switched-off phone?
No. A switched-off phone cannot receive the request or send browser location data.

Is Tracelo free?
No. It may offer a low-cost introductory trial, but the service operates through a recurring subscription.

Why did Tracelo charge me $49?
At the time checked, Tracelo advertised a low-cost trial that automatically renewed into a $49 subscription. Your exact amount may differ by country or promotion.

What is Help-Tracelo.com on my bank statement?
Tracelo identifies Help-Tracelo.com as one of the billing descriptors that may appear for its subscription charges.

How do I cancel Tracelo?
Use Tracelo’s official cancellation page, submit the email address associated with the account and save the confirmation. Check your account and card statement afterward.

Can Tracelo track a phone using IMEI?
Tracelo’s published consumer process is based on an SMS link, not direct IMEI tracking.

What is the best Tracelo alternative?
Use a number-information tool when investigating an unknown number, built-in Apple or Google tools for your own lost device, and a properly enrolled family-location app for ongoing child safety.

Final Verdict: Is Tracelo Worth It?

Tracelo can be useful when you need to send a one-time location request and the other person is willing to cooperate. Its browser-based approach works across iPhone and Android and avoids installing an app.

But the service is much less impressive than the phrase “locate any phone by number” suggests. The number is merely the delivery route for an SMS. The actual location comes from the recipient’s browser after the person opens the link and grants permission.

The subscription deserves equal attention. A small introductory payment can renew into a much larger charge, and public complaint sites contain repeated reports about renewals, cancellations and refunds. Those complaints are not proof of wrongdoing in every case, but they are a strong reason to read the checkout carefully and document cancellation.

Bottom line: Tracelo is a consent-link service, not a secret phone tracker. Use it only when the recipient is expected to cooperate, and do not buy it expecting automatic GPS access from a number alone.

Check What a Phone Number Can Reveal

Best Cell Phone Monitoring App

Begin Free Trial

180,671 people have signed up.

Monitor Calls & Text Messages

View Photos and Videos

Location Tracking & Geofence

Monitor WhatsApp & Kik

Detect & Alert for Inappropriate Activities

Monitor Websites Visited

Compatible with Android and iOS

Tracelo looks like a simple phone-number tracker: enter a number, send a request and view the phone on a map.
